Nils-Axel Mörner gave this talk on the Gulf Stream Beat at the Oslo conference in 2019. He sadly passed away in October 2020, and Jan-Erik Solheim has transcribed and prepared the lecture for the proceedings, complete with updated references to their joint ongoing work.

This talk is devoted to the science of the oceans with special reference to the Gulf Stream Beat.
Forcing of the ocean circulation system is controlled by the planetary beat on the Sun, Moon, and the Earth. The sea is not at all in a rapidly rising mode.
